Breeding Plans

2011

This is the first year of breeding at Sinfully Superb Serpents and provided that all things related to breeding, the snakes and “Murphy” decide to work in my favor, we should have two clutches. Once the pipping has started, hatchlings will be added to the Hatchling Page and subsequently those for sale will be added to the Available Page.

Update on Paring #1: These two were put together 3 times during the week of March 18, 2011. I did not witness any hook up, although they were left alone for several hours. They were put together again several more times each week over the next month. Again I did not witness hook up or any evidence of a hook up. There was plenty of interest from Perseus but Artemis did everything possible to avoid hook up. Unfortunately, there is no clutch from is pairing.

Updates on Pairing #2:

The week of March 18, 2011 I put these two together 3 times. Each time Gaea seemed receptive and Zeus was extremely excited. In fact on the second time he got to excited and everted the moment he got into the tub with her and prematurely ejaculated all over the tub. Silly Boy! They were put together again several times until April 7, 2011 when there was immediate hook up which lasted for 40 min, with confirmed seamen spillage. They were then introduced twice more after April 7, 2010 but Gaea would not let Zeus near her.

The hook up between Gaea and Zeus was successful and on May 20, 2011 she laid 10 perfect pearly white eggs. Dad was a young male and it was his first time breeding, so I was impressed he knew what to do and got the job done! Hatch date will likely be around July 20, 2011 or so. Hopefully, all ten eggs will hatch with nice healthy snakes!! Keep checking back regularly and as soon as they start pipping there will be lots of pictures posted.

We have babies! While away for the weekend in Calgary the little ones decided it was time to emerge on approx. July 27, 2011. 100% hatch rate, no deformities. It seems I several Hypos and Hypo Motley/Striped babies, which can only mean that Gaea is het Hypo. There appear to be 4 Hypo Motley/Stripes, 2 Classics and 4 Hypos, popping confirms 7 males and 3 suspected females.

Adopted Clutch

I have been given a second clutch of eggs from a teen whose snakes were co-habbed and one of the females became gravid. I have no pics of the parents, mom was an Amel who unfortunately died due to the complications of her unplanned clutch. The father is a classic and hets are unknown with both of the parents. The original clutch size was 15 eggs, 3 remained in the mother, 12 were laid, 2 went bad and had to be discarded. The remaining 10 eggs are incubating at this time, they were laid sometime in the week of June 20, 2011 so I am expecting them to hatch anytime after the week of Aug 20, 2011. I fully expect to see all classics in this clutch.
